Hi Andy, that is a great idea!! I will connect up a welder and get someone to have a weld and i will measure the voltage drop.

I had another idea i might try out later. The house is on "yellow" the same as the "faulty" line to the shed.

I get a much higher PSCC in the house [L2/N] than i do in the shed [more than double], which is a bit strange as they are both fed off the same LV main, and the shed service cable is much larger too. when i measure L1 - L3 1 get nearly 2KA if i go L1-L2 or L3-L2 i only get about 400 odd amps.

I will connect my meter to one phase in the shed [L1 or L3] and to L2 IN THE HOUSE!!! If then the PSCC rises to more like what i have measured between L1 + L3 then i know there is definitely something wrong with the L2 to the shed!!!!!

Hi, No not yet. I had a measure today and L/N on all phases is about the .29 mark. Not sure what to think now.... I will have a measure again at "Peak time" [say 6 at night] like it was when i did the first measurements. Still PSCC's of about 800A phase to neutral and about 1.2KA line to line seem very low to me.

The line to line figures seem to be the most inconsistant though, they seem to vary from about 1.1KA to about 1.9 from minute to minute??

Is all this normal?? Perhaps i am miles away from the substation transformer and perhaps this is right on its limits capacity wise??

My street is about 75 years old and i think it is the original mains cable, but there are now about twice as many houses in the street.

What sort of PSCC's do you all typically find??
