Hi, new to the forum and appreciate any help that is provided.

Recently moved the shed and have access to a mains supply which is approx 6m away. I'd like to run power to the shed for 2 double sockets and 2 small strip lights. Won't be powering anything significant ,few tools or a radio. My issue is that i need to have the supply cable run from the mains board up and over to the shed (15ft up) then down a pole and into the shed. What cable should i look to use for this, swa or is there an alternate? and what size should it be?

Was thinking of a 20amp breaker at the mains board and a 10amp for the sockets and a 6amp for the lights in the shed. Would this need to be increased if i added a 20w led security light?

thanks in advance

1, What earthing system you got?

2, How you going to test the finished job is safe.

3, You do know that "part "P" applies and you need building regs approval to do this....

is there no way you can run the cable underground/low level?

I dont like cables blowing about personally if its avoidable.

oh, you may find you start using more and more power in your shed after a while,

I mostly live in mine tbh,  :|

Thank you. I believe the earth is a TT system (will need to check in the daylight). Job will be fully inspected and tested upon completion by qualified electrician. I'd just like to do the install myself. No way of burying the cable so would have to go on a cable support wire.

When I wired my shed I liaised with a local electrician - he was quite happy me doing the donkey work and running cables. Nothing was hidden as all surface mounted. He did the testing and connected it up in the CU in the house, and the small board in the shed. Saved me a chunk of money.

It was done with 2.5mm T&E initially, but that has now being upgraded to 10mm SWA. (I bought a welder!).
