Hello all,

Just done a c/u change but had to disconnect the shed supply as had really low readings on IR and cable was rubberised so is probably persished underground somewhere. Customer is happy for me to change it but having a couple of problems with the run. House is a bungalow with good loft access so will run cable accross loft but when the cable comes outside the back has a concrete patio which customer won't allow to be broken up and this continues to the side of the house. The side of the house is approx 1 metre from a 2 metre high fence. The patio is approx 2 metres long from the house. From here its not a problem is can put a trench in to bury the SWA along the fence but its getting over this patio at the back or concrete at the side that is the problem. I beleive a overhead run has to be over 3.5 metres?? I also beleive I can't run the cable along the base of the fence or top of the fence due to potential damage if fence blew down??

Thought that but beleive mi height is 3.5m and with it being a bungalow its going to eed a pole sticking out of side of house and really tall pole in garden to drop it down into trench - garden is 50ft long to overhead to shed is definate no no

Does the fence have concrete posts? if so I've fixed gravel boards across the front of posts & fixed swa to the gravel boards.

I've also put in 24" (12" in ground) posts with 45 degree top cut fixed boards to the top cut & again fixed swa to the boards, then screwed plastic danger 230v labels every 3 mtrs along the 60mtr run of boards........ this was in a landscaped garden so no trenches by order of the owner.

Thanks for the reply M107, trench isn't a problem as customer wanted to save a few quid so is doing all the digging for me!!! its just the getting accross the concrete bit thats the problem!
