Currently doing an install on a 9.0kw shower. The property is massive about 18 bedrooms  , and there as db's all over the place!!!!!.

However i have found one on the floor where the shower is being install that is supplied by 16mm2 Twin and earth from a 60amp sw fuse. It is a complete run from the switch as i traced it out, doesn't connect to anything other than this board.

Currently it is supplying a cooker and socket radial circuit, cooker is to be disconnected, so i'll be fitting shower in to it.

What i need to know is, as i will be changing the old wylex board to provide RCD protection for the shower. Can i put in a small 4 way with a 63amp RCD Main Sw with a 45amp mcb for shower and 16/20amp for socket radial or does it have to be RCBO's with a main sw, as RCD's cant be used as a main sw??

Thanks in advance..

:D

I would say, because it only powers part of the house, that an RCD main switch would be the simplest and cheapest option. Thats how I would do it anyway.
