Recently my 26yearold shower packed up. I don't use it much as I prefer a good soak in the bath.
The old shower was a Triton 7.0kW (30A), and the one I would like to install is another Triton, but 7.5kW (32A).
However when I check the fuse rating on the Consumer Unit the shower fuse is 30A, and the total limit for this CU is 80A, which is just the total at present. The present shower is connected via 10mm² cable.

What would be the implications if I simply installed the shower as it is now and left the fuse on a 30A?

And....if the current protective device is 30A; its likely to either be a 3036 rewirable fuse; or a BS3871 MCB - it may be wiser to get a 60898 MCB, if possible.

If the cable is 10mm, then it is big enough to handle the upgrade - could be worth a quick check of the pullcord, to verify its rating ( normally 40-50A).

As Nozzer says - do you have adequate, operational RCD protection to the shower? If not - it really ought to be installed :)
