Smart Meters

I read in the ESC mag that the govt intends [?] to upgrade 16 million meters to smart meters..... Thats a lot of changes. The ESC also are lobbing to have isolation switches installed to stop al the nonsense over fuse pulling. The meter co's seem a bit reluctant!

Any takes on this?

I read that as well.....

IMHO switch's will be avoided wherever possible due to ALL these cut-backs...

simple logic a few quid extra per house...

If you as a company got say 2 million houses to do

2,000,000 x a few quid....

several million+ saving!

There is already a functional smart meter design they can buy off the shelf..

no need to go back to the drawing board adding bits for the once in a while bod who wants to change the CU tails!!!
