Smoothing on ac transformer 30volts AC

Hi there I have four 30v ac transformers oowering the christnas lights and want to put a smoothing capacitor across the 30v side of tranny how do I work out the value of a capaitor to smooth the ac out at 30v sec 230v pri 50va max on secondary cherrs folks

The simple answer is you can’t smooth AC it’s inherently lumpy. You can get a mains filter or if I can find it I’ve got one kicking about you can have.

Why do you want to "smooth it out" any way?

But as has been said you need a bridge rectifier and smoothing capacitor, then you may need a voltage regulator as adding a capacitor can up the voltage.
