Seriously though, you can get a nasty illness from being up a cow. Livestock vets used to get it a lot, occupational hazard. And have you ever got "Orf" from a sheep, Vet'nary? (NOT got off with a sheep, for those of you non-country people with dirty minds...)

Are you thinking of Brucellosis? We eradicated that a while ago.

No I have never had orf, I almost always wear nitrile gloves when working.

Thought it must have been, I haven't heard anything of it for a loooooooong time.

Both my parents contracted Orf as a result of rescuing a sheep that was firmly stuck in a fence.
