ok so all you need to do is feed the tranny?
Generally yes. Some have the transformer i the base of one end, others have the catenaries veer off to a transformer mounted somewhere else.

 
Paul, just to make sure you know, the catenary wires are bare and are alive with the 12v supply. Light fitts just hook on between the wires. Good for shop displays as you can slide the fittings to anywhere you want. Customer had them in a kitchen once, absolutely useless.

i have some in my conservatory and they are very bright but then i do have 4 50w lamps i think!(not sure as they were there when i moved in and the lamps haven't blown yet). mine aren't bare wire they have clear insulation and the fittings have spiked clamps.

 
Not all have bare wires. some have pointed screws at individual lamps that pierce a plastic insulation.
