Hi all I had a days work yesterday doing a house rewire in 1 day. I can't believe the state on this women's house it was horrible, if the council seen it they would have condemned it for sure. I got some pics but don't know if it would be right to post it

Hi all,

I will merely confine myself to this;

You do not know what problems this woman has..... You have a lot of living to do yet.......and you do not know what will happen to you in your life yet......

Please do not think i am being rude, but do not judge others.............They may have problems you cannot see.......

john...

I was not putting her down app I understand exactly why her house was in the condition it was. It's her family that should help her out and the local authority should be involved. This was a rewire on a council property. Who ever won the contract should be assessing each property if there expecting to put people from the trades to work in there.

One thing you learn quickly are there are a LOT of different standards of people's living arrangements.

One house I had to work in, I wouldn't even use the loo for a pee, it was so disgusting. I crossed my legs and finished the job quickly.

Another one, single bloke living alone, the house was absolutely disgusting, particularly the kitchen. I later found out he was a nurse. I just prey his personal hygiene when at work is better then when at home and hope he never has to treat me.

And it's amazing how you can go into a home full of rubbish, nasty old worn out furniture, disgusting worn out carpets, faded peeling wallpaper, and a shiny brand new 60" plasma tv sitting on an ancient old tv unit. Some people have some strange priorities.

use foot to lift lid, pee then use foot to flush chain ;)

worked in a few places with dog muck everywere, inside and out, the smell is enough to make you sick,

different standareds of living i agree with you on theat one mate

The difficulty is when you read something it can be interpreted a thousand different ways. This person was really nice. I felt bad for her as she had to live under those conditions. Even more so for her health. Her grandson was there with his mate and what was running through my mind was why don't they come round and help her? As to my recent thread it was aimed at the council authority or the contractors who won the contract which failed to put there tradesman first than money. Money is what makes the world go round. :(

you mean use foot to lift lid, use one hand to hold your todger, other hand to block your nose, close your eyes because it looks disgusting as well as smells disgusting, pee, hoping your aim is okay (but it won't make the place any worse if it's not), flush with foot (still blocking your nose), make a sharp exit. All the time holding your breath, because it's so bad you can taste it if you try breathing through your mouth.

That's why I decided to hold on.

You get used to it. Work quick wear latex gloves and NEVER accept a brew!

There was a case on TV of a flat in the Sandwell area some years ago ,which is the West Brom./ Oldbury area . We worked with some plumbers who had to go there. An apparentlty respectable middle class couple lived there with black rubbish bags and old newspapers piled in every room waist deep with a path way to other rooms . The lower levels of paper were rotting down and were alive with insect life. He tried to describe the loo and bath but gagged at the thought of it.

On TV there were workers in space suits filling dozens of skips.

Unfortunately it is life and you just have to dust yourself down and get on with the job at hand! On the other end, I have seen some places lived in by single parents with kids but house is spotless, some just have other issues and priorities wrong, certainly in the case of the plasma tv :-(

The plasma TV thing always gets me,, these people on benefits always seem to have the biggest ones they can get with smaller ones in every other room of the house.

Pees me off TBH as we still have a 37" CRT TV

gavin,

No SHOULD about it, they have a statute law obligation to do so, end of story.

A few years back a friend worked for the housing dept of our local council. He said you wouldn't believe how many homes were piled high with crap like the tv programs. The worst one were two elderly sisters in a 3 bed house that had so much stuff collected there was only a 2ft gap between it and the ceilings to crawl around on.

Been in housing association flats where they had a white deep ****pile carpet and ****ed in it right in front of yes the consumer unit.

One of the other flats in this building also featured a fine collection of empty beer cans and needles.

Some white areas of this city , people seem to follow a pattern of , never get a job, benefit cheating, plead poverty but use or deal drugs, have the biggest plasma TV in the world, get loads of tattoos, smoke, drink, encourage daughter to get pregnant before she leaves school and never leave home without your two Dobermans or Rottvielers .
