Starting website

I am looking to start my own website but have no idea how to.

I know I need to purchase and address but i don't know were the best place to do this is, and were to go from there.

Please could you point me in the right direction and give me some advice?

why not pay some one to sort it all out - For instance these people by where I live charge

websites nothing without google rankings.. for new business anyway. i had yell.com promising me top rankings for 40per/month and and think per click or something. anyway said prove it trail it to me for two weeks... guess what erm ermm no sorry we cant :^O
