fitting some lights today. the earth cable from the terminal to the fitting is steel and not copper. wonder how much they saved per 100 lights? £5?

 
Its pathetic really  but nothing changes ..there were loads of fittings  (Made in UK)   that used small connectors  ,  fine for one cable only  but if it was loop in ...loop out   you couldn't get two cables in them ..I think they were 2 A instead of 5A   / 10A

 
Just a thought, if MIs (or 18th ed) stated RCD protection, could we see reduction of cpc CSA in fittings or reduced conductivity of materials?
