Did a job for an old dear on Monday . Storage heater Creda 2.3KW about 10 yrs old she says " Only half of it gets hot I need a new one"

So open it up , can't see anything blown .

All three elements the same resistance .

Frig the time switch and read current , 9.3A

All elements have 240V applied .

Input stat calling for heat .

All 3 elements getting hot .

So I pronounce it alive & well , tell me if it hasn't heated up over night .

She phones today to say its hot at the top and cold at the bottom , which I noticed when I tripped it on for an hour .

Any ideas , all the others get hot all over so she still thinks she needs a new one, but if it pulls the correct current it has to be working !! . Or am I missing something ?? My only thought is that the output flap was open slightly , set at 4 . May phone her tomorrow to suggest closing the output flap.

Did you take the inner cover off to access the elements, or just test from the terminals?

I'm just thinking there may be something wrong with the bricks/casing if you're getting the right input but the wring output.

Thermostat set too low? I find a HUGE variation in heat input vs settings i.e same setting on 2 heaters gives different results.

Boost flap stuck open, or boost control set too high. With the flap open it will act more like a convector with heat coming straight out, and less heat will go into the bricks.

Also it's only been on 1 night. May not be enough to fully charge it?
