.............. for the UK  to start taking a back seat in world affairs  but no ,  every little thing that occurs in the Middle East we are there , rattling our sabres ,  fuelling up the last remaining Lancaster bomber for action .

And why are the Russians getting so Bolshie again, bloody weird lot they are .

Where are all the other countries ...why don't we keep our noses out  like the Swiss  ,  Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Norway , Poland , Hungary, Republic of Ireland  , Iceland , Italy, Canada  etc etc etc .

All these countries who end up with some despotic ruler  or ruled by a religion  they can't get shut of , ends up as a trouble spot  .

Sport is a great leveller , these international games /sports / competitions  bring peoples together ....  but who now  would want to go to Russia as a soccer fan  ,  their lot are  all powered by drugs anyway .

Rant over  ... evening all ...raining again .

I don't see them signing up though , our days of world power are long gone  now .  I live in a city of a million people  ... over half of them  are not even English .    Who are we fighting for ?

Despite all that we are **** at we still have one of the best militaries in the world.  :Salute

Couple that with our allies need to police the world and our attitudes towards human rights we seem to want to get involved in any ****hole country that dares to **** on its own people.

That and wars make money for governments and their friends, for example: this weekend fuel prices are set to rise due to what's going on in Syria at the moment.

I feel we should take a back seat from the world arena and do some good for our own but I am mearly a duck and nobody listens to me!

:p

If only we knew how to take the speck from our eye before taking the tree from theirs.

You cant lead by example if your example is chaos?

As for China add India to that and this was written many years ago before this ever came about. See if Russia don’t get real friendly with China and India.

We are small fry in the grand scale, in fact we big up our services then continue to cut their funding and we all know they’re only as strong as the weakest link- the government.

Besides the way this country is going we will be a third world country before we know it.

We already are a Third World county ....we were considered that by the US  30 years ago .

A good point though ....funny how China & India keep their noses out .

I'm sure that  Winston Churchill said in a speech  that the next major world problem  will be centred in the Middle East  back in the 1950s .

to police the world you need money for a strong armed services, for that you need industry and a strong economy.  China wins in my book...

Smoke and mirrors...the armed services in China is strong by numbers but their troops are ill equipped compared with western troops, subject to corruption, poorly trained, their equipment is mostly knock offs of our stuff and they are the army of the Chinese communist party not the people of China. Look up the history of the PLA.

Strong economy, yes for decades we've been propping them up buying cheap plastic tat from them in huge quantities then selling it back to them in the form of recycling but the government has had to step in a few times to avoid massive stock market failures due to everybody and their blind grandma borrowing money to invest in the stock market which has produced a volatile market based on assumptions rather like bitcoin.

Also the property market in China is a lot like our own except on a massive scale, people are quick to jump on the band wagon in China and the government  encouraged people to invest in property and again everybody and their dog has started to borrow money to buy property on a massive scale.

Look up Chinese ghost cities.

They are dependant on us in the western world, if our economies are courgetteed and we stop buying **** they are courgetteed.

Russia on the other hand...................

baddayexplode

Russia has ****e economy (and government), but what i was gettting at is that It's all well and good having very good armed services, but there is so little left of them that fighting a war with anyone armed with something more dangerous than a peeled banana is probably a bad idea.

The Russians have little restraint when it comes to warfare. You want something done and don't want any comebacks you get them to do it, unless it's poisoning ex spys in Salisbury they seem to have messed that up a bit.

They will deliberately target hospitals and schools so that any local inhabitants will move out leaving any enemy combatants behind.

Another instance was the little green men in Ukraine.

As for their economy, yeah if you're a regular Russian citizen then things don't look great but you still have nationalism to cling on to.

If on the other hand you are an ex KGB oligarch you basicly own most of the UK and can do what you like!

The British and American Deep State are at play, even your own General tried to say it before he was cut off by Sky News.

This whole Syrian war was a diversion to stop the construction of a pipeline between Iran's oil and the Mediterranean.

It would surprise me if there wasn’t an ulterior motive. After all what did the Syrians do to us? If we are so sure that Russia was behind the chemical attack on the Russians here then why didn’t we go bomb Russia? Why Syria?

Typical of the British governments USA says it was so, so we jump.
