headbangheadbang

This is a joke right???? ?:|

A person allegedly going to undertake some work for a customer on a self employed basis....

Who cannot price for replacing 6 light switches!!!!!!!

HOW MANY MORE TIMES DOES ANYONE HAVE TO EXPLAIN......

A business calculates its costs based around its Labour + Materials + overheads...

You have provided insufficient information.......

how far away is the job?

how much traveling will you need to do to get there?

are you supplying the materials?

are they bog standard plastic accessories that sit proud of the wall giving more concealing room in the back?

are they fancy thin plate hidden screw grid mounted jobbies... with less manouvering space?

are there exsiting dimmer switches fitted?

are the switch back boxes surface or flush fitting?

AND/OR

are the back boxes deep enough... (refer to Dekes recent thread about a light switch with a bout 1,000,000 cables stuffed in the back!!!)

are all the wires long enough in the back of the switches to reach the terminals on the new dimmers?

are there too many conductors to fit into one terminal.. (e.g. looping a few 1.5mm lives?)

are all the threads good for the fixing screws?

do you need to get any longer fixing screws cus the boxes are sunk deeper?

are

etc..

etc..

etc..

"I do not want to price it to low or to high"

has got to be the most daft statement ever.........

consider.....

How much is a pair of jeans??????????

Flippin` heck!

I was just going to type out exactly the same thing....and you beat me to it....... ;)

C`mon - Have the guts to determine your pricing, or leave it alone for someone who is capable.

This is really annoying me now - its the same thing as the 5Df`nWs who`re going out and undercutting everybody else - to the point where we`re going to have to cease trading!

We have one of these wombles locally - the latest scam is to go into a property for something small, and condemn any recent work by other sparkies.....shame is that most customer`s believe him `cos he`s franchised to "mister electric"; who has the NIC logo. This guy isn`t NIC - he got kicked out.

Learn to do the WHOLE job, or don`t do ANY of it.

Not to be taken (particularly) personally - I`ve just had enough!

rant over :coat

i changed 10 switches a few months back, not dimmers, i think about 3 were 2 way the rest 1way, charged 70 and the customer was happy with that. I would not do it for 25 unless i was there in a visit to go through perticulars of a bigger job.

Oh dear Matt you've been on this forum for awhile now and have a post count of over 700, actually the same as mine.

Why are you asking such an inane question? I'm not trying to upset you, I just genuinely wonder why?
