Taking Megger MFT on Ryanair...????

Evening,

My parents have a holiday home in France with some niggling problems with tripping RCD`s. Im set to go over there in May to do a bit of work to sort it + more. Im flying via Ryanair and obviously need to take my Megger.

Would Ryanair let me take it as hand luggage or would it have to go in the hold? (Bloody Pricey)

Ive looked on the website and cant really find any answers. Obviously the leads will be a problem being possible stabbing weapons but they can be sent via post before hand.

The main problem would be that it could be used as a possible shocking device 1000v.

Im just asking here as i dont fancy sitting on their extortionate phone line for ages to speak to some numpty who doesnt have a clue.

Has anyone had to do this?

The last flight I had was to Germany and they only allowed the tester in cargo not cabin luggage, If you call the airline they will tell you if you can or not. You have to remove any batteries and make sure it is insured.

may be slightly irritating, but not deadly. unless you stab someone with both probes and give the heart a shock. although the stabbing of probes would do more damage

I had to go to Amsterdam a few times [somebody has to do it]. First trip was there and back in the day, just to install a couple of points. I thought I would just take the tools in a pilot style case. Big mistake, HUGE fricking mistake. It looked like a bomb when they Xrayed it. Long story short, they put the case on the flight deck and Captain fantastic looked after it for me 'til we touched down. Never again, all subsequent trips the tools went in the hold... :coat [mind you it was late 90s and British Airways club Class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
