Hi all,

I am thinking of taking on an apprentice and just wondering what is involved in the way of part work, wage, insurance and if any goverment incentive schemes.Any info or advice would be most helpful.

Thanks in advance.

CITB used to do a scheme where they paid apprentice wages for a year. Need to watch CITB though as they like to have a percentage of your turnover each year to fund themselves .

Could try the JIB ,surely they do a scheme , or what are they there for ??

Also try the EITB but if I remember from reading the quangos list which are to be abolished I think these where among the ones to be abolished.

Try JTL. I did my apprenticeship with them and also the apprentice I used to employ was with them.

There are grants available. Depends where you are. Training officers can help with that kind of information.

Thanks for the replies. I have the large stick already and will try contacting some of the suggestions.
