This is just to point out that although you have asked a question e.g. "What does this odd switch do" or "what part do I need" we are electricians, and as such can usually tell you (For example) "what type of cable should be used"
We do not know what the "Little blank box with a flashing light you have posted a picture of is for" Likewise if you have taken down a light, and now find you have 9 wires, and you ask what where do they go? Without being there to test them, the answer has to be sorry, no we can not help you any further from this end of a computer, and suggest you call upon the services of an Electrician near you.
