In case you haven't heard,the Thomas the tank engine tv show for young kids is to get some new engines.Apparently there will be a chinese one,an indian one,a canadian one,a brazilian one and a russian one,oh and the chinese one is female.Apparently this is to modernise the show and demonstrate equality and cultural diversity in modern Britain! For heavens sake the kids who watch this are about 7 years old,do they need to have equality and diversity rammed down their throats at such a young age? They should just be allowed to be kids,they'll have enough to deal with when they get older,what's going to be next,a gay engine and a lesbian one?

I'd be more concerned at the sheer number of engines, my eldest used to collect them, must have had at least 40 (@£7 each) individual engines and that's just the tip of the iceberg , must be another 80 odd engines to collect  & now with these politically correct engines.....

fortunately he has moved on to dinosaurs!!!

well you would! like when they were talking about bringing in sex education for 7 year olds,that was a stupid idea,why burden young kids with something they needn't know about at that time? I mean there's a time and a place for everything,and teaching kids about sex at that age isn't on.

If you ever visited where it's filmed, Tobermory on Mull, you certainly would NOT find the ethinc mix they portray on television. What's wrong with "showing it how it is" why do they have to pretend it's something it's not?

I doubt in my life time we will get to a place where people will just look at people for who they are.  Yes judge people on what they believe. Or what they stand for. Who cares where they come from or what country they were born in. If you do, well, you are stuck in the dark ages.

A Triad engine with a thing about stir fry.

That's the real "problem" Kids growing up expecting to go to a train station and an ice cream train will pull up and serve them an ice cream.

So if that bit bears no relationship to the real world, then why should the ethnic mix of the trains portrayed?

And that is the problem, there is too much emphasis on ethnicity and the like it's always the same,you can't say that in case you offend  him because he's  a Muslim, is a comment you often hear these days, oh so it would be OK to say that same thing  if the guy wasn't  a Muslim. ? And there is a lot  of what is wrong  today too much emphasis is put on not upsetting  a particular  group rather  than not upsetting  anyone in general. It leads to a culture of fear,take travellers for example,they pitch up wherever they want they dump rubbish  everywhere yet a lot of councils are afraid to act because they are now classed as an ethnic minority and they don't, want to be seen as persecuting them,yet that same council catches you dropping a cig stump and hits you with  a fine.This leads to resentment among the wider community and you  have problems. I'm all for integration  and tolerance but it has to be an even playing field ,if you are not going to prosecute travellers  for dumping  trucks full of rubbish on common land then you shouldn't prosecute the guy from down the road when he does exactly the same.
