Well called in to put right somebody elses c*** up
Mr Electric had to extend lighting circuit in a shower / toilet / wetroom come washroom on a firestation.
Existing circuit in existing earthed tube....bloke comes in chops conduit about in fills with pvc conduit. Puts new light fittings up in incorrect positions, didn't know what fp200 was & wasnt interested in moving the smoke head.......... as the foreman said "he didn't seem to know what to do, so to avoid the other blokes on the job he came in & did his stuff when everybody else had gone home"
Unfortunately for him the fire fighters on the station kept an eye on him (one being a sparks) & they highlighted their concerns end result he got booted off the job.
I had to;
Resite 2 light fittings
Add an extra light fitting above toilet cubicle that he didnt put in, he thought one would do, even though the spec & plan showed two..one above each cubicle.
Push conduit box back above the ceiling level, as he had left it proud by a a good 5 - 10 mm & plaster'r couldn't make good.
Apparently he'd completed and tested the lot.......seems he'd forgotten the rcd though...."so how is the testing complete"...is what I asked the agent
"oh right well not sure, but he did say it wasnt required as people would be under instruction when using the circuits in the room"
Thats some interpretation of the regs, it's a shower / toilet room.
These are some of the things I found he'd done.
Conduit didnt reach to the light, so lets drop singles through a nipple fitted to the box lid & connect them into a chock block left ontop of the plaster board some 6 inches below the conduit box, with a short length of flex into the fitting.

This is the wet room area with the accessible live terminals in the conduit box, that has no ip rating & is proud of the ceiling. Plus the light that needs moving to the centre of the room.

See the looped line conductor to the left...out of old conduit into the new....nice.
I didn't notice the looped conductor & gave the box a push to see if it would go into the void &........bang the looped line shorted on the old conduit..frightened the f*** out of me, luckily I used my screwdriver to push the box as I was wary of the shoddy work I'd already seen.
Close up of the above, he even knew the potential for a short as he's put tape around the conductor....w****r, you can just make out where the arc to the conduit was, to the right of the insulating tape.
No trs or grommet used in the back of the box either.
