Hi can any one help with this??

A capacitor of Capacitive reactence 5ohm, an inductor of 8 ohm inductive reactance and a resistor of 4ohm are connected in series to a 230v 50 h supply. The total impedance of the circit will be??

A 5ohm

B 4ohm

C 40 ohm

D 50 ohm

Any help would be greatheadbangheadbang

Z=Square Root of (R Squared + X Squared)

X=Xc-Xl or Xl-Xc (larger minus smaller)

Therefore Inductor 8 ohms - Capacitive 5 ohms = 3 ohms

Square Root of (R squared (16ohms) + X Squared(9ohms)

Square Root of 25

= 5 ohms which is answer A

Hope this helps
