Trainee Electrician

Hi everyone I have just started my training on city + guilds 2330 L1-2-3 at Macclesfield college uk for 3years im paying about 2k at the end of my three years, I would like to go self employed or get a job in the industry if anyone as any advice that would be great I think doing it the right way but I here that people have done this in 18 months at centre ??
