Hi all

We have just upgraded from Sky+ to Sky+HD. Our son now has our old box fitted in his room. We asked the engineer if it was possible to transfer the recorded programs off the old sky+ box onto the sky+HD box, he said no it's not possible. It's just a hard drive isn't it? Is what the engineer saying correct?

Thanks in advance of any replies.

It is possible, but its not as simple as what you may think.

One way to do it would be to change the hard drives over. But the HD one is a bigger HD

The other way, is to remove them and configure them onto a computer and transfer that way.

Personally, more hassle than its worth really.

Thanks for the answer Dane.

I did wonder about using the computer to transfer them.

Where abouts in Sheffield are you? Thats where I'm from.

Hi Malc

I think the data on Sky+ boxes is held in an encrypted format and different models of box have differing file systems so the engineer is sort of right but there's always a work around try this

Thanks for all the replies.

The copy plus looked a good way to go but it would invalidate the warranty on the HD box.

So we're doing the the obvious, as Andy says, and watching the progs in our son's room when he is out.

If you have video sender you could watch them downstairs via the signal.

Just suggestion
