Hi guys.

A friend of mine has just phoned me. He is currently having a new kitchen fitted. The electricians said before they start work, he needs to get the meter tails increased to 25mm, which the supplier has done for him. Now though, the mains switch keeps tripping every so oftern. The MCB's are fine. And as far as I know, the RCD doesn't trip either. Is this a faulty mains switch? Or could it be under-rated?

Many thanks in advance.

Main switches are usually just that, switches without any automatic switching function. Are you sure it's not an RCD main switch? If the kitchen fitters are working on circuits with MCBs turned off an RCD could still trip with neutral & cpc connected.

Why dont you ask the electricians who are working there on site, that can test and check everything??????

Welcome to the forum Oddball, as has been said the information you are giving is not clear. A Main Switch does not automatically trip, unless it is an RCD switch.? Probably best to get the previous electricians back to investigate the fault, as this could involve some sort of warranty work to rectify if there is a component problem.
