The TV point in my girlfriend's flat has never worked (Samsung TV w/built-in freeview). It received a poor quality C4 on analogue, but that was it.

She had a Sky box connected to the dish on the roof for their free channels. It was connected to the telly (opposite side of the room) via the existing co-ax. Aerial company came out, plugged the Sky box into the TV point (conventional aerial), now all of a sudden the freeview picks everything up perfectly.

How come? Has the Sky box (Pace I believe) got a built-in booster? Surely there wouldn't be such a difference though? ?:|

Edit: It also works perfectly now even by bypassing the Sky box. Please someone reassure me I'm not going crazy and they've done something else somewhere?

Sounds as if something in aerial plug was not making or lead may have a break in it, when moved it made a connection.

The number of times I've moved it though, tried so many times to get it working, they turn up and it works all of a sudden. ?:|

Outside, part of the cable has been wrapped in insulation tape; I just presumed water had got in and ruined the cable. Obviously not.
