First spark I worked with at 15 yrs old had a driver with different blades in the handle , I used to think you could design a motor /gearbox ./ battery to fit in there . Turn a screw against the gearing to loosen it then press a button to power it out or in .
In more recent years I actually drew a new design of JB , showing my mate . We'd started to use ceiling roses as lighting JBs specially on timer fans because we were sick of the old fashioned circular JBs with the missing grub screws . Much simpler to park each core in a common block .
Was it early 70's when B&D brought out their first electric driver and more recently Hager etc with a modified lighting JB. Both invented by yours truly , in my head .
