The Government appears to have made a u-turn and has reinstated the April 1st deadline to bring about a cut in the solar PV Feed-in Tariff rate, in a new renewable energy report submitted to the European Commission this week.

The Government's apparent u-turn was buried deep within the

Interestingly the government have also lost a court case, which they intend to appeal, which may also have a bearing on this u-turn.

Another government U-turn:slap ....................why the f*** am I not surprised, they've just about U-turned every other decision they have made since comming to power.

I know its good for those of you doing installs or owning PV systems by I resent having to pay towards the 43p/kwh out of my inflated energy bills.....
and the cost to you of generating using other means is??? In 25 years time these PV systems will still be working at 80% capacity and costing you nothing. Must have a look for some figures about the cost of the alternative forms of generation, and the increased costs in insurance/ government expenditure caused by rising sea levels and changing weather patterns - pretty sure it will make the cost of PV to you Rev look very insignificant.

actually I have..... in my back yard its called Wylfa - soon to become Wylfa B
and how much was the public enquiry alone into Wylfa B, never mind the cost of construction, and long term waste disposal issues (half life of radiocative waste is only 3000 years :( ). Now work out how much that is adding to your bill...

In April of last year I was asked (with some persuasion) to take part in

a business start up doing Solar PV install. Glad I turned it down. Had

I done that I could by now just be throwing good money after bad.

Best of luck to those who are doing it, though.

if you had got going in April, you would have made some money, but if you had gone large scale and borrowed money to create business, things might be very different now. Either way it's water under the bridge. Any guesses as to the next big thinhg???

Even if the gvt dropped the FIT altogether the amount of money we're charged for our power will not change a bit. They like using the FIT as an excuse to push boundaries with their prices and get a bit more cash here and there.

I don't think they are losing nearly as much money as they are saying, if at all.

Like everything, it depends how you calculate the numbers. I've been redoing same SAP calcs to suite the new tariff. If you add RPI at 3.5% and annual energy inflation of 10% to the SAP number, you can turn

It's all a bit silly really, they never really look at the bigger bigger picture. They just choose their favourite one and hang it on the wall for everyone to see.

There was a massive hoo-har about the cuts to 21p. But it is well known that in some places (I believe Ireland) that people are making money off 17p. There is most definitely a good margin in 21p to be had, once the prices of panels come down, which they are. I reckon there's been between a 10 and 15 percent drop in the past 4 months.

I was looking at Photon International the other day, and Germany is investing to power the whole rail network by PV and Wind. There was also an article today saying how they have so much PV etc that it was causing unexpectedly high leccy flows into Checkslovakia (did I spell that right??) resulting in the need to upgarde the cable. Can't see that happening here somehow :^O

20% drop on panels in last month.

21p is still good, it's more about joe public sulking about their mate who got 43p. But don't give up lobbying yet, for the 'Green Deal' will really destroy us in April!!

Binks i think it has a Zee in it somewhere glad its not just me that can't spell some words. The opera i am using actually underlines the mispeled words come on how do you spell mispelled.

n.b. The wave system going in the Irish sea; anyone heard the latest?

There are a few hundred guys waiting for the (small) weather window, in which they can go out any install the damn kit - they`ve been sitting there waiting for three months now.........

And I saw at the weekend that these massive, mega-expensive, aerial fireworks wind turbines are, generally about 10KW. Don`t work in no wind, the owners get a "switch-off" payment to stop `em when there`s too much wind - and they say PV isn`t cost-effective??? How stupid / gullible are we supposed to be
