Last night I ordered a Indian takeaway, at 6.05pm to be precise..

The man said it would be delivered within the hour, we didn't have a problem with that. At just after 7pm we gave them a call, the word was it will be with you shortly (It's raining heavily at this time and has been for an hour or so), the weather being the excuse.

At 7.20 I call again, this time I've lost my patience, and give them 10 mins to deliver or don't bother (I just disconnected the call at this point).

At 7.29 my wife jumps in the car to the local Pizza takeaway.

At 7.38 (1 hour 33 minutes later), the Indian takeaway arrives, I duly send him packing..

Was I unreasonable in my impatience or justified in refusing the order after such a long delivery time?

What is a unreasonable takeaway delivery time?

Then again my missus would have probably taken the food... left it about 10 minutes and called them to say it was cold lol get them to refund the money after uve eaten half of it!

Late or not, 40 minutes over the promise of within the hour is unreasonable and if you can't keep to that (or close to it), then they shouldn't of taken the order..

TBH 6:05pm on a Saturday night with the current weather conditions and the amount of bugs flying around has got to be their busiest time of the week...

although if they say a hour then 40 mins over that without a phone call is a bit much..

If you had a Pizza delivery then you get it free if they're over the half hour don't you??

you have to remember, when its raining all of the dogs are at home so it takes longer to find a stray!on the flipside though, we have all been late for a job, these things happen.
BUT

In most cases if you are late for a job, you would at least give them a call and say you are running a little late!
