Chippy mate's "find" he thought would interest me. Until recently on an old small holding in deepest Kent. TT etc. New build hence his involvement. He said a Wylex cu was fitted:

What a relic. Should sandblast it, quick respray and add it to a museum collection..

Yes, it's a thing of some beauty I think. I have no idea how old it is. As I said, this was IN USE until earlier this year! I was half thinking of mounting the garage security keypad in it. Just a pity about the broken hinge lug.

Well it says " Durability"  and it was right !

Walsall was a factory not far away from us , in, would you believe, Walsall ,Staffs . As in Walsall Conduits.   Now long gone  as is it's neighbour , Crabtree,

Walsall I would guess , did the typical British thing of failing to modernise and move  with the times  and fell by the wayside like our car & motor cycle industry.

I've a mate who does shot blasting and powder coating but it seems a bit overkill tbh. Got some 'magic' powder you mix with WATER for derusting bits off the car (Deox-C from Bilt Hamber) absolutely incredible on old tools etc. Might give that a go then black Hammerite. Pity about the bust hinge though........delicate cast iron welding maybe?
