walk over/drive lights

On saturday i am going over to give an estimate for some walk/drive over lights. I have never installed these before so i have been looking at some wholesalers etcs...

i have noticed that they come supplied with normal flex as a plug and play systems whiich i find really odd, as i would thought that swa would have to be used etc....

can i please get some advice .....

Not done any myself Matt , but I'm sure they are low voltage ,( by "low" I mean 12v)

Or they will be LEDs .

You wouldn't be able to connect SWAs to pharty little light fittings.

flex into resin joints would be your best idea tbh as the resin joints are a permantent sealed joint, i use resin joints a heck of a lot, and have never had one fail.

how deep would u bury the cable?

Maybe add some mechanical protection to the cable too.

Depends on whats on top of it tbh. Could be a lot less if its in a concrete slab for example.

with a stuffing gland and flex to each light.

in the wholesalers you used to get a big bar of very similar to pyro putty.

if you bury a conduit box in the ground it will naturally have water run past it as the ground soaks with rain and the water goes down to the water table

a lid and gasket just doesn't cut it

Has anybody used the magic jel joints was going to use it on a job the other day but terminated swa in fitting which seemed better?

I've used that Magic Gel stuff but not in their enclosures, but with SWA into galv conduit boxes and flex out via a stuffing gland.

Be warned it is quite greasy so use gloves!
