I used ammunition cases as toolboxes, they stood up to all the abuse anyone could give them in a foundry.

But not this!

Neither did Beatty’s Dreadnoughts!

The picture is from a documentary about the battle of Jutland showing the effects of containing a small explosive charge. Why did they have to use one of my toolboxes ? ! ? ! ?

Was that another of those British victories where  over 6000 seamen were killed .?     I don't call it a victory TBH but they must keep BS,ing the public I suppose .

Oh well , they could have been at the first day of the Battle of the Somme when there were nearly 60,000 casualties !!!!!!!           IN ONE DAY!!!!!!!!!!

I think lives of the working class were held to be very cheap by our officer clarse  in those days .

Can you imagine that news coming in today ........from the Gulf  or the Falklands .

I watched the Jutland programme with great interest - a classic case of not keeping up with the technology, out of date tactics, and gun-ho commander who didn't want to wait for the heavy dreadnoughts to turn up. No wonder we took a bit of a beating even if the end result was the German fleet never tried leaving harbour again and Germany basically starved.
