Luckins was acquired by Amtech Group in 2008, labour and price guide data is still produced, but I cannot see any indication of any free download options. Most probably an important source of revenue for Amtech group? http://www.luckins.co.uk/home

Hi All!Just after some guidance on pricing please.

Been asked by a client if I could replace some light switches and sockets so they all look the same, at the moment they have white ones and brass ones dotted around.

Also, they would like approx. 5 light fittings taken down and not replaced and making a 2 way lighting circuit into an intermediate circuit.

Would you charge by the hour or fixed price?

If so, how much?

Im newly qualified so wouldnt charge the same as experienced electrician.
Work out the time you think you wil take allowing for problems and explain why. This is your bottom line. If you've C***** up - then put it down to experience.

If you come in under that - then charge them the hours that you took.

The Luckins guide seems to be a worst case -I wouldn't get any work if I quoted at that rate - whatever you decide it's a finger in the air approach.

Break the job down and put a time in for each element. Some you'll win on - some you'll lose. Monitor and learn!

Forget fully qualified/experienced - they are not interested. it's the bottom line. Don't do yourself down - from my experience many experienced electricians are caught up in groundhog day!

Good luck - but think what your customer wants. If you can convince them that you are doing your best and have got their interests at heart then you are well set.

By the way - the best way to do that is to have their best interests at heart and do your best!

Good luck

I have both Luckins and Spons, the two differ a little. I very much doubt you can get a free download, I've only ever seen it in book format. My old employer (from my apprentice days) has a similar book and it's quite old. It isn't by Luckins, mmmmm, made me curious now I'll ask him about it tomorrow.

completely agree with PC electrics. we spend years and countless hundreds of pounds on courses and fees to be expected to do our skilled profession for nothingl. I should get myself a laser level, screw gun and padsaw (sorry, actually have all these) and earn
