time to hang up the jacket and go get your slippers and dressing gown.

Just had a break from the plumbing after the wife said "Shall we have a nice cup of tea?" - definite sign of getting old. GM "Big Band" music, ALWAYS loved it myself! I've found that it suddenly dawns on you that you've been listening to Classic FM on the way home WITHOUT realising it AND you've been thoroughly enjoying it! Looking at the half beard I've grown this week the missus told me that I'll soon be able to play Father Christmas, FFS I'm only 45.......or is it 46? May I suggest some Michael Buble to assist in your crossing over into the world of the grey whilst still keeping a foot in the door of the youngsters? Quite like his "Lost" track. Anyway, must get back to finishing my..........now what was I doing again? :)

(p.s. I love a bit of Trance etc too but have been told I'm too old to go to Ibiza!)

Well I wish I was 46, but I'm afraid that's long gone, it will be time to hang up my boots soon, each week seems to get harder and harder.

If I do a full day, I feel a kip is in order from 6-7pm just to boost the battery for the evening.

Slade, Ozzy, Deep Purple, Grand Funk Railroad, Quo, Bowie, Winehouse, Hazel O'Connor, Prokofiev, Elgar, KD Lang, Melissa Etheridge, Motorhead, Blondie, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zep, Madonna.......I have an eclectic taste in music, I cover a broad church! But as for this {C}rap music, or this shite that sounds like some twonk hitting a dustbin with a baseball bat, I will let the dear reader make his/her own decision................. :coat

I too have a broad range - quo, rush, ac/dc, floyd, led zep, deep purple, rainbow, but then again I like ELO, the police, anything melodic and musically has talent. I appreciate ther whole band not just the singer, I appreciate every unsung background musician that barely gets a mention and probably doenst get paid that much either.

You may be getting old Rev, but you also gain taste , and as a musician yourself how could you not appreciate the Glenn Miller sound? Who could NOT like Glenn Miller?

Also eclectic tastes, I grew up with Trad Jazz , then it was Folk, then Elvis changed it all forever , '60s pop , classical ,Johnny Cash fan, blues. I like some of the latest female singers , KT Tunstall , the Dutch singer, forgot her name

TV and Radio only ever play teeny bopper music or talent contest winners ... then you hear someone like Frank Sinatra , Ella Fitzgerald or Judith Durham and think ..Ah ..thats how its really done , perfect pitch , perfect phrasing /timing .

In Jazz Louis Armstrong is the one and the others follow . You can hear his style above others , I heard an old Blues number a while back , possibly Bessie Smith and homed in on the cornet playing a solo in the middle , sure enough , a very young Louis Armstrong.

I like the blues mesel, the proper stuff though, not this tat today they call RnB, WTF is that all about.? :| still find a bit of AC/DC hard to beat, but I really got into
