So, there i was in Cribbs Causeway [the shopping place near bristol] the other day, when the girlfriend spots a ring in a jewellers....

Now, she has been on about me getting her a ring for ages. Anyway, the one in the shop was like shiney silver [cos it was platinum] about 6mm wide and cylindrical with bevelled edges. [Yes, you can see where this is headed] It also cost £1150.!!!!!

Sooooooo, armed with a lathe and some 316 stainless, i made an exact replica....

Will i get a cwch, or a smack in the mouth?????

john...

You're a brave man! There's a 50/50 chance that you'll have to carry your b*llocks home in a paper bag...

don't think a paper bag will be much good when they have been liquidised....

a plastic Tupperware tub may be better!

YES......

you are in BIG trouble!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha ha, you lot are funny!!!

Welll.... She was not overly impressed!!! For one thing even though i told her that stainless steel was the new "welsh platinum" she kept saying about traditional materials like gold..

I tried to point out that you have to move with the times, and that this was the latest thing, but to no avail... She wanted to know was i going to use the green glass from a beer bottle to make a stone. I said of course not, do you think i am mean or something...

It was only the fact i took her loads of chocolates that saved me!! Still, did not get to see HER ring after all, and spent the rest of the evening reading 60 year old copies of "Model Engineer"

Oh, yes, and even worse, she pointed out that the ring in the jewellers she was looking at, [and i copied] was not in fact an engagement ring at all, but a "mans wedding band" whatever that might be...

Ho hum, How was i to know!!!!!

Take one lathe;
