does anyone know what type of metal is used (plastic coated bendable type round metal, used when the manufacturers make the sillouette shapes for christmas lighting, as i need to get hold of just the metal used and wondered where i could get it from, i need it to make certain shapes so that rope light can be attached to it and cable tied

Badge,

Make the frames & then get them powder coated, or galvanised & painted.

To shape them after coating will probably result in the coating fracturing off.

cant remember whats its called, but you can get it in 8x4 sheets

i used some to make some cages a while back

you probably want something with thinner steel though

got it from a local steel place

Badge,

What are you looking to do, mild steel, we used to call it, it has other names now, low carbon steel being one.

Have you a thought on sizes?

There are hundreds!

What Andy has used is know as weld mesh, or mesh sheets, I have a few 80x15 8'x4' sheets of this at the moment for making machine guards for a customer.

Gis a ring tomorrow if you want, going to be early tonight, shattered!

Got a long day of paperwork tomorrow too.
