Well our local Woolworth's closed on 30th Dec!!! :( :(

but I did get a couple of bargains...in the closing down sale... :D :) :)

Some DVD's... including the classic original Italian Job!!!!

cant beat the Michael Cane quote.....

"You're only supposed blow the bloody doors off!!!":^O:^O:^O:^O

AND a U2 DVD set with footage from their 2005 Vertigo tour..

our eldest likes U2! :)

also some CD's...

Anyone else pick up any woolies closing sale bargains???? ?:|

or is your local woolies still open? :|

Went in on the last day of trading 27th. Was quite sad. Nowt left worth having.

I overheard another customer at the till asking how much a pair of socks were, the cashier said "I dunno .............2p..................I don't care"

Really saddening.

I have my grandma's 50 year old christmas lights that are still going strong - bought from Woolies. Will post a pic - they attach in a lampholder.

if anyone is in need of shop fittings etc might be a god time to buy. you could probably offer them less than the scrap value of the metal shelving, and take it straight to the scrappy and get a profit

My local one doesn't shut till monday night, did hear last night that people where just walking out with stuff as staff don't care, (may take a walk in today). You never know what may be left.

Im going to ours again today, taking the kids in to spend the rest of their xmas money on dvd's,

Went there lastweek and got kids fleeces for a pound, girls school socks for 60p, boys jeans 80p.

pack of 3 t-shirts 75p,

My suitcase for hols will be full now. :)

It is sad that they are closing down(jan 5th) loved shopping there,

Our Adams store, click store, and a bakery are all closing too, our town will be empty if any more shops go. :_|

I will miss Woolies - It 's a well known store that I have memories of as a child. :(

Well some of the shelves were being taken away today by a bunch of men who looked like the local 'rag-a-bone' men.

Theres not much left in ours, packs of christmas cards 60p (ready for next year),

Lots of 'titbits' with 70 percent off. :)

Loads of kids black plimsolls which i don't think are gonna sell!! i mean who's children actually still wear them??

Quite a few dvd's and cd's half price.

Posters 50p but they are rolled up so you cant see what they are :D

Some staff was saying that they think the shop will be empty before the 5th but i dont think so(unless they give away the last of the stock)

Staff are standing on the door checking peoples receipts to make sure that they have paid for their goods.

I was hoping for some bargain toys for our boys birthday next week but nope. :( not a single toy left.

not much left in my local one but the shelving that they are selling at

thing that troubles me isif Woolies shut, where will all the teenage shoplifters go???
I was working at a job just before xmas. It was at a single mothers house with a boy of about 14. He was talking about setting up a business with his mate selling stuff that had been stolen from woolies and other shops. This really pi....d me off as my daughter and father in law work for woolies. It does make me wonder just how much stuff is stolen from these shops and with the money that Zavvi owe them maybe they would not have gone under.
