I'm about to put in an RCD into a wylex board which was from the electrium recall era, but Wylex have reshaped all their breakers.

Will this new style one fit in the older style unit?

all the new wylex/ crabtree mcb's seem so flimsy compared to old. The switches feel so loose.

In a word, no.

I recently fitted a Wylex dual tariff CU and used a mixture of old and new MCBs and RCBOs. I found that the busbars were hard to fit and keep the devices lined up, thus making the cover hard to fit. I ended up fettling the busbar prongs a tiny bit to get everything lined up. I can only assume that there is a small difference in the dimensions that isn't apparent to the eye, but manifests itself when you tighten everything up.

Another reason I'n not keen on Wylex.

Hi Ash,

the rcd's havent changed, still the same mate, its only the rcbo's and circuit breakers that have been altered so you will have no problems.

What a pain in the buttress when they pull these strokes.

I've now abandoned Crabtree for MK after the recall business.

MK s adverts in this months ECN are pushing the fact that 90% of their stuff is made in UK.

Can't be selling a lot of DB equipment then as thats all made in china.

a few months back i fitting a wylex RCD bought new into an old board... oh man! what a pain... we had issues with the buzz bar as we had to cut it down to fit.

it would have been easiler and quicker and for sure cheaper to fit a brand new consumer unit....
