Make sure you put the green and yellow and the 2 cores in the green sleeving together in the earth terminal on the light if it is a class 1. If no earth terminal make sure you still connect these cables together. These are for safety and won't effect the working of the light but may save your life. 

Found this in a customers house! Single sunken back box with earthed conduit, bought forward into surface mount double but no cpc. Solution? Cable tie and wrap cpc around it! (Just to clarify not my work)

What would your aversion be to replacing a transformer in a light fitting? 

As previous poster probably not enough to load. You could either increase the wattage of the bulbs (lamps) or change the transformer in the fitting with a lower min wattage rating. 

The problem is when working in domestic asking the customer for a new lamp doesn't result in the desired response! I have had a customer come out with a torch as he thought I couldn't see! And judging by the question I am assuming (possibly wrongly) gadget88 would better understand the term...

How many bulbs in total off the transformer? The transformer has a minimum load of 35w and if you are only putting in 2 14w bulbs (only see 2 in the picture) then there is possibly not enough draw on the transformer for it to work. 

Why do you need to read the meter? Surely the infomation is displayed on the smart display and isn't the point of a smart meter that you don't need to read it? 

Also may need to check the rating of the accessories as some are only rated at 6/10a for lighting. (as per manufactures instructions)

Correct me if i'm wrong but Main equipotential bonding is probably what you are calling 'main protective bond' i.e. to Gas/Water/Metal structure etc size usually 10mm in domestic 

Possibly or greater friction and less efficient as parts age/scale up. Probably a bit of both.

No I am an avid believer in Phillips LED. Customer bought them on the internet. I think that cheap LED bulbs could be the next 'cheap phone charger' fire hazard. These were closer to going up and I bet the plastic was not flame retardant!
