    Marquee with a TT, Easy?

Gents, I'm going to be putting temporary electrics into a Marquee in a garden centre. The marquee is being plonked next to the garden centre building and will be sitting on brick block work. To use a rod will mean running a cable to it about 30metres across the block work to an area where the...

    CAT 3 test equipment...

The business I work for keeps a couple of back up meters, one of them is a Megger LRCD220, Its CAT 3. Looking at the category definitions, it says that only CAT 4 equipment should be used at the origin/supply side  So I have said to the business owner that it should not be used for Ze testing...

Sharing Knowledge, a little situation I encountered

Had a similar problem with fish tanks. When the staff were putting their hands into a few of the tanks to do cleaning or catch fish, they were getting a little "tickle". They would lean on the metal framework which was earthed holding the glass tanks and put their hands in the water. It wasn't...

Ok, Next set of pics. The fuse board area now enclosed in a cupboard: DSCF0063 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! Wired up three phase board. We use Schneider boards because of the Isobar system, but there are a few irritations, such as the coiled neutral from the RCBO's to the Neutral bar, they never...

Hello, I haven't posted here since last July, been busy, busy, busy. This set of pics is from a shop build that we've almost completed. The building was a "franchise" block on the site of one of our customers. It had six units. The plan was to knock four of the units into one and keep the other...

    When Wasps Attack the Leccy...

Hello all, haven't posted for a while. Got asked to find out why a lighting circuit kept tripping in a house. Traced the fault to the switched line to the light switch in the front room. The house owner was heading off to France, so I isolated the cable and then I would come back when they...

    Energy saving light lamps

These types were used in the ceilings. The Robus is one single 10Watt led, while the collingwoods are 3 leds running at a total of 8Watts. The Robus does come with a detachable lens which makes the light warmer. The collingwoods were cheaper as well If I remember correctly.

    Trunking by an expert

Often find that data cabling/telecoms/CCTV engineers are the worst offenders. A lot of them just cable tie their cables to our conduit. We tell our customers to make sure they do it neatly, but do they listen? Do they f**k. headbang

    Energy saving light lamps

Just thought I'd post this. I used Collingwood LED's, which are more or less the same ones you can pick up in Senate electrical wholesalers. Tried the Robus in comparison and the collingwoods came out on top in terms of lighting output.
