What are the best brands.

I want to replace two halogen floodlights which are on the front of the house. Is 100W LED equivalent to 500W halogen? I've checked the lumens and I think 100W is the correct power rating. I'm concerned that going greater than 100W will cause a nuisance and complaints from the neighbours.

I've shortlisted the following:

Timeguard:

Ansell:

Sylvania:

Ledvance:

I know that Steinell are the best brand but they I'm unable to find a 100W model.

Very hard to pin down a good make these days.

100w should be bright enough for just about anything, but be aware led tends to less forward focussed and give a wider spread of light, so point them lower than the old units.

100W LED is very bright. generally for domestic I fit Ansell Calinor 10/20W, I like them, cheap and decent quality. 30W if it's a big garden. 50W is likely to get complaints from neighbours. 100W would be for a commercial job

As has been said... and as some of the descriptions from your links suggest..
100watt LED's are more suited in the non-domestic sector of applications..

"The Ansell Lighting Eden AEDELED100/WW is a 100W compact, economic IP65 black aluminium LED floodlight suitable for commercial applications."

"lightweight die-cast aluminium body makes it a perfect choice for building facades, car parks, garages and construction areas."

Personally I have always considered 500w halogens overkill in 99% of domestic properties..
(plus they are often mounted too high, causing bucket loads of light pollution over the neighbours!)

I would just be looking for a reasonably priced 30watt LED floodlight with 3-year warranty...
Unless it is a very large frontage where you cannot see the road from your front door? which possibly may required a 50watt LED..

However if it is a large area to cover, it can be better with multiple lower output lights suitably spaced rather than a single higher output light.. e.g. 4x 10watt lamps can be better overall than 1x 50watt.

From my experience all brands and makes of lamp can have their rouge fittings that fail prematurely whilst an exact same make & model of lamp can also just keeps working fine for ages!

So my key points of choice are; Reasonable price, 3 year warranty & A real physical wholesaler/retailer that I can take an item back to if it does fail. I really cannot be arsed by the faff of packaging something back-up to send recorded delivery back to an on-line supplier for a refund or replacement, as it just sucks too much profit margin out of any job I do for a customer!
