    low voltage tungsten lamps

The voltage at the lamp is 25v a 60w lamp should pull just over 2A,  in fact it's 2.4 amps. This would be a constant draw for as long as the lamp is on. For 50v I think your calculations are far off, it should be around 1.5A. For 240v it should be around 0.25A.

    First periodic inspection

There have been some good answers previously I would not like to detract from those, other than to say, as the designer it is whatever period you specify. It is not in any book, and as you are the designer who has a vested interest in the integrity of your design it is up to you and you alone...

    Please help save Scotland.

Nicola Sturgeon is a dangerous spoiled brat. The people of Scotland voted to stay within the UK, and I, England and Wales welcomed their choice. I was born in England but can by right of birth claim dual citizenship, my wife was born in Scotland so I take a very keen interest in what goes on...

    People arguing in forums

I think the crux of the debate comes from the fact that innocent people with no knowledge are at the mercy of people who call themselves electricians. I personally find it tantamount to fraud. You are however correct in your opening statement, we tend to be more polite face to face, perhaps...

Hello looking for someone who wants a working holiday

I find this thread interesting, I would love a 4-5 hour job, all paid expenses, but would feel that I was just taking advantage. I would rather put in some hard 12 hour shifts, get the structure right and then enjoy the freedom.

It was always called the flick test, and one that I learned as an apprentice. It is however not advised suitable testers are available today.

    Stolen Robin Multifunction Tester

I am still using mine Mark. I have just bought some new test leads as the supplied ones were all but shot. The tester still calibrates well and I prefer it to the company supplied Meggar's. Any electrician that purchases a known stolen product is a low life scumbag.

ECS gold card for QS through NICEIC

I was more qualified than my NICEIC assessor. he suggested that I undertook more training in order to qualify limitations on EICR's. He was just jealous that I completed all my course and he dropped out after 5 years.I love it and look forward to yearly assessments from regulation readers who...

You are being attacked, but why? Firstly I would presume that you have not listened to any advise. If you are truly new to the game, then take a deep breath. My advise is never assume anything, besides the old adage, it really does serve you well in later life. Any fault, intermittent or...

A nail driven through a cable would take a competent electrician about 5 minutes to find with proper testing. I just love part P. It gives van drivers the right to call themselves electricians. I am not calling you or your mentors van drivers, just that I am not calling you electricians either.

    Per item PAT test charge?

Pat is one of the most abused electrical test procedures known to man and is never worth the paper it is written on. In my opinion it should be scrapped.
