    Main Earth Conductor

Its all wrapped up. Didn't really want to mess aroung with it. So you'd leave the 6mm to the MET? How will that go down in my assessment? Its only a short piece of 6mm and the Ze's good:C

    Main Earth Conductor

Hi, I'm using my comsumer unit change for my initial NICEIC assesement. Its TN-S supply with a 6mm earth conductor which i know should be 16mm if selected from the table and if the Adiabatic equation is used it work out to just below 10mm. I have phoned the DNO and asked for it to be upgraded...

TT Ze >200 ohms Advice Needed

Thanks for the replies i think i'll investigate the earth rod and put in the minor works certificate that a new earth electrode is advised etc. Because if you go by Reg 411.5.3 Ra x delta n equal to/less than50v then 320 x 0.03 = 9.6v So that equation is satisfied Has anyone else got any...

TT Ze >200 ohms Advice Needed

Hi, what would you guys do if your doing some work on someones TT installation and the Ze is 320ohms? I know its recomended that it doesn't exceed 200 ohms but rcds will operate at 1667 ohms I will investigate it and advise the customer if it needs a new electrode etc but is it still...

    Rcd Test Problem

Yeah mate i came home and tested it, worked fine. I think on Monday i'm going to: 1) Have a damn good look around and make sure all the load are disconnected because it was Friday afternoon and i was being called Guinness Test again 2)N - E IR Test as mentioned and if fails further...

    Rcd Test Problem

I'll try that first then. Just pinched this off a test instrument website. "This is known as touch voltage. It is requirement of the regulations that a measuring instrument cannot create a situation whereby 50v or greater could be passed into the earth system. The tester will check the mains...

    Rcd Test Problem

Thanks for all your replies it is a bit of a brain teaser. The polariry is fine. Well its been there for 20+ years. The meter is fine works everywhere else. I could be a faulty RCD i suppose. Doesn't it only put 15mA through on the test? I guess the best way to test for a N - E fault would...

    Rcd Test Problem

It's definately set at 30mA. Nozspark, the N - E fault would make sense but when i tested the PFC the PSSC was 1.09kA and the PEFC was showed <1A so would this be the case if the E & N were connected together? These are all the tests i have done as i didn't have much time at the end of...

    Rcd Test Problem

Hi, I used the socket on my MFT 1553 on the auto setting, it starts the test then says the touch voltage is >50v. Could this be because the Ze is 321ohms? If so measuring it at the Rcd out L - in N as you said should work but is it acceptable? Thanks again

    Rcd Test Problem

Hi all, I was doing a pre work survey on a static home today where the owner want a couple of circuits extended. Its a TT and the Ze was 320ohms which i know is higher than recomended. Its got an old Wylex board supplied through a 30ma RCCB switch. I tryed to do and rcd test with my Megger...
