    On the way home.

Could be as silly as having your mft set to test at 10ma rather than 30ma !

    I love being self employed

Working for yourself before you have real experience in the workplace isn't a good idea. Going on your own is hard work , with nobody to fall back on when you come across something 30 years old that you've never seen ! I'm 4 years out of my time ( which was a 3 year apprenticeship, doing mainly...

    Toilet light switch canundrum

http://www.elkay.co.uk/product.asp?id=14&catid=1 There you go onoff , that's sorta thing, it comes in either 2 or 3 wire. I'm not a 100% if you can fit all of them on the ceiling so check before hand, this one above can be though

    Toilet light switch canundrum

You can get occupancy sensors that don't require a neutral onoff .

    ceiling flush pir sensor

They do normally require a neutral. If you loop in and out at the light fitting, you can just take a 3core and earth to the sensor from the fitting, using 2 corrs for line and neutral and the 3rd core as a switch wire back.

Problem of the week - ceiling rose

+1 why on earth would you work on a live circuit when a simple continuity test would give the exact same result - switch on continuity , switch off no continuity , and it could be done in 3 - 4 tests with simple test equipment. And im sure it would be just as quick if not quicker. Also EAW regs...

    What's wrong here then?

It seems like massive over kill to me, again if your tests have been carried out correctly and you installed the circuit well, what's the point In dragging in an extra earth to do the job of the earth that's already there, earths don't just disconnect themselves. I understand the point, I just...

    What's wrong here then?

Hi integ earthing is something I have never seen the point in personally, if you do all your dead tests and prove its a ring, what is the point ?! I'd be interested if somebody could actually give a decent reason.

    Strange fault

Bashing buttons doing dead tests is one thing , knowing how to carry them out properly and interpret the readings you take is another. It doesn't sound like a very complicated fault to me. re-do your r1+r2 and IR tests again. If that fails maybe elecsa do refunds ?

    Consumer Units.....

Merlin all day long for 3 phase boards, and single phase com/industrial. Mk sentry for the domestics, most of the big brands are good for domestic , just steer clear of Chint and newlec! I've had 2 newlec main rcd switches fail!

    Dangerous Dog?

I'm sorry to hear about your dog, but I have one of those 'mastiff staffy' things and I can honestly say, it's all down to the owners and nothing to do with the breed. Mine hasn't got a bad bone in its body. Little dogs can me much more viscous, they just cant do as much damage . I am by no...

    Neutral to earth fault maybe?

Loss of neutral does Sound about right from what your saying, but if Your getting 400v at one circuit it would be every circuit , as that would require the incoming neutral to be missing. It's not tncs is it ....lol

EICR - RFC higher than calculated end to end on cpc (code advice required please)

Are you kidding me ?! Maybe it's because the cpc is 1.5 and the live conductors are 2.5 ? Did you expect them to have the same reading ?!

    Indesit Integrated Oven Problems

Presuming its electric - It would most likely be the element, which most of the time is an easy fix. Make sure you get the right 1 though. It's located at the back of the oven behind a metal guard, in front of the fan. A few screws and to undo and a straight swop. Make sure the cooker circuit is...

    How to find it?

This is a really good explanation of what causes earth leakage for anyone who wants to read it. If your reading along and wondering what could cause a large current on the earth .... http://www.marcspages.co.uk/pq/3220.htm

    How to find it?

I might be totally wrong here, and shoot me down in flames if I am but, could you put your clamp around each armoured cable after the gland inside the unit. So you would have the inner cores of the cable - line, neutral and earth inside the clamp at the same time. Live and neutral would cancel...

    How to find it?

Is there a high number of electronic devices ? I'm thinking appliance earth leakage. Pc's for example. 26A is very high but with an 800A 3p supply I'm guessing it's a rather large building, whats the usage of the building ?
