    Flipping van

i know that much but is it a car derived van? as i understand it things like astra vans, vauxhall combo's etc are car derived van so come under car speed limits but this was a van before it was a car, its more of a van with windows.

just thought of an odd question, my parents drive a VW Caddy Maxi Life which is a people carrier version of the VW Caddy van, what speed limits would this vehicle be under as its a van derived car?

    Flipping van

tbh at the time i wasn't aware of the different speed limits for vans having never owned one or used one regular before this job, i take it by the tone of your reply you have never done anything wrong?

btw that accident led to a 6 month investigation into the accident(with me suspended from driving company vehicles during the investigation) involving an outside company doing a crash investigation where they measured skid marks, vehicle damage, hedge damage etc and calculate speeds and...

yeah it slid sideways for ages but then hit the root of that hedge and toppled over, was only doing 5-10mph when it went over. they didn't fix the roof as that would have written it off apparently!

    Flipping van

well i successfully missed it but killed that hedge which wasn't as tasty when grilled.

those definitions are completely different to the ones my mates know and they are VAG master techs(not fitters, they have to take a week long course with exam every other year to retain the qualification). your description of dash is the bulkhead isn't it?

    sky brain needed

does sound like you've damaged something, with co-ax the sheath is used for the signal as well so it needs to be continuous. what are you using the cat5 for? oh and you can do your own ends easily enough, the last sky man i had left me a handful and they only twist on, no special tools needed :)

    Getting 'overpriced' work

    10mm T+E clipped externally

i know what your saying but its such a low risk its not worth worrying about really, there are far more dangerous things around the home.

    10mm T+E clipped externally

oh and about the shower being turned off after use it depends on the shower, if its a modern electronically controlled one then yes you should turn it off after use as they perform a short diagnostic when the power is returned. We were told this by Mira's engineer's on an installation/fault...

    10mm T+E clipped externally

how is the risk high enough? seriously how much water are you going to have to put over a switch in order to get a shock, don't forgot you will also have to be touching earth at the same time which again is pretty unlikely. wet hands alone aren't dangerous in my opinion as the water would have...

    10mm T+E clipped externally

i have just checked my regs and yes T&E in conduit attached to masonary is reference method B and gives 6mm T&E a rating of 41A and 10mm T&E a rating of 57A. HTH.

    10mm T+E clipped externally

if your running it externally in conduit and it doesn't pass through any insulation then why not wire it in 6mm as wired like that its rated at over 40A(41A i think) to cut the costs a little bit?

    How many showers??

oh i agree there, it was more of a test sheet thing.

    How many showers??

isn't the maximum demand the rating of the main breaker not the total of the loads, thats what the man in charge of our electrical QA informed me.
