Further to the 'extending the ring main' issue, I was just after another wee bit of best practise advice - When extending a ring main to incorporate another another socket the L, N and E going into one of the sockets on the ring main needs to be removed and will instead go into the additional...

Just after a bit of advice on a fused spur query - A customer's having an extension done and he wants some sockets and a light putting in it. There's a feed for one socket going into at the moment from a previous outside socket (ring main). I'm going to extend this ring main to incorporate 2...

    What's the difference

    I think they're 53476 and 29466.

    What's the difference

It is a wee bit confusing. Bloody Screwfix! :)
  15. D

    What's the difference

That's what i'm trying to find out! :^O They're both in the screwfix catalogue. They look exactly the same other than that the installation boxes seems shallower that the knockout box (metal back box).

    What's the difference

What's the difference between an installation box and a knockout box? :o I've never really known the answer!

    FCUs

It would appear there aren't specific height restrictions then if the inspector didn't make an issue of it.

    FCUs

Hi guys, Do FCUs have to be mounted within the 450mm-1200mm height bracket or do they fall outside this requirement? I can't seem to find a definitive answer anywhere.

    Lighting spur from socket circuit

One more question on the spur subject - Am I right in believing that it's acceptable to take a spur from a fused spur i.e. a spur off a spur?
  20. D

    Lighting spur from socket circuit

In appendix 15 (of BS 7671 ;) ) it shows examples of various socket spurs from socket circuits but no examples of lighting spurs from socket circuits. It is just assumed that if a socket spur is acceptable then a lighting spur will be too?
