Hi guys,

Do FCUs have to be mounted within the 450mm-1200mm height bracket or do they fall outside this requirement? I can't seem to find a definitive answer anywhere.

I'd say that would depend on if it was for functional or maintenance purposes!

I've just completed a new build and put a couple of fused spurs close(ish) to the ceiling and it wasn't even mentioned by the building inspector (and he's the toughest in our area!)

they weren't for functional purposes though

It would appear there aren't specific height restrictions then if the inspector didn't make an issue of it.

Think of a cooker hood ??

20 amp switch within defined height bracket

but you will have it connected at high level via you fcu or socket ???

it all comes down to justifying your reasons ....isolation at correct high

socket/fcu not functional as Noz says
