    networking a house?

Always suggest CAT5/6 but then I do mostly AV and Networks, small extra cost ads to the value of the property in the long run, however I guess it would boil down to the type of neighbourhood the house stands in

What Do I Need To Watch 3D movies at home?..

So far as I recall they have two a year, one in London, the other in Manchester Might be worth a trip to the Gadget Show live at the NEC, April 12th-17th 2011 http://www.gadgetshowlive.net/

    Loud speaker cable extension

Still a bad idea IMHO If they can ban Banana plugs because muppets in Europe might plug them into the Shuko sockets, I just would not recommend using T&E for the very same reasons, particularly as there are plenty of inexpensive cables that exist for speakers and are perfectly adequate

    Loud speaker cable extension

79 Strand is fine for most, or QED 16/2 if you want something to cable in the wall etc Most people could not tell the difference between 42 or 79 strand If you wish to improve the sound then spend your money on better speakers Russ Andrews - Andy :slap ---------- AUTO MERGE Post added at...

Fair enough Out of curiosity, did they not want HDMI there as well? If I go to this level I tend to recommend a little future proofing just in case they change to a larger TV with more features

Not at all, it's your risk to access and decide, just thought I'd save you some time in future Sorry it was not meant as a criticism

I have a simple test, the hang test, if I can hang on it, all 11+ stone of me it's not going to come off any time soon Most TV's now are under 35Kg for Plasma, with LEDs etc often less than 20Kg You can weaken the wall or fixing if they are too close on some materials The real difficult ones...

Badger I like your attention to detail, but just a thought, you really don't need that many fixings for a 26" as it weighs slightly more than a Gnats wot not Even the costly Rigifix 6mm (designed for dot & dab) would be OTT for a small TV, I typically use 4x 70mm M8 coach on these, the...

    Facebook ???

Very much down to your age, kids use it in the same way we would not think twice about using a phone Now as to pointless, I think Twitter falls squarely in this category, mostly used by the pretentious who think someone actually cares about their pointless ramblings about what they just did...

    More interesting than..........

Here's another A Caret, is a seed used in the Middle East, it is very uniform in weight, hence why it was used on the other side of a balance for bartering precious stones

    office power and data

Rev I think you find it's 568A or 568B, As to the OP the convention is to use 568B and I'd recommend you stick with B the only difference is in which pins are used per colour pair, brown pair is the same on both Keystones are colour coded, but plugs (RJ45 not correct name but in common...

Council "we are ready for snow"

What a joke, the last few days they have been on TV reassuring us that they have good stock piles of salt, grit etc and it will not be as bad as last year The weathermen have been warning of heavy snow in parts of Surrey for days Result no gritting before the snow, my road has been in grid...

    There is still work about!!

I'm not sure an effective 2.2% (adjusted) is much of an incentive I'm busy (in AV & Networks) but no one has mentioned VAT rise being the reason why they want work now

Not sure why you seem to have an issue, the default home (landing) page is http://www.talk.electricianforum.co.uk/index.php the /index.php in the URL is key, it should always list the forums by topic I can't even replicate what you are doing, what browser are you using, is this via a mobile...

    VGA/HDMI Cable

It's likely then that your Laptop supports HDCP, but as you say the HD-DVD is obsolete, and would make little sense adding a portable BluRay as you might as well just by a standard player and connect that to your TV

    VGA/HDMI Cable

I can't see this working without some form of A-D converter, there's no room in either connectors as shown in the picture for anything else bar the cable ends, I suspect that this is intended for use with an A-D box of some sort ---------- AUTO MERGE Post added at 00:19 ---------- Previous post...

    VGA/HDMI Cable

Again cables won't help if HDCP handshaking comes into play and the TV and PC can't complete HDCP checks I'd imaging that the VGA to HDMI will unlikely display the desktop for the reasons stated, if it does indeed convert analogue to digital it will likely fail on HDCP as part of the content...
