    Does it need notifiying

Precisely-in my understanding the special locations only means if it is deemed a minor works alteration to a circuit and has an actual addition then it is notifiable. But i cant see the harm in a minor works certificate being done-just without notifying it. Shows professionalism to a customer...

    Permited cable route

I think we are on the same page here to be honest-just when you said about not doing it at say an angle I was kinda thinking it would be ok if mech protection or rcd'd, as was essentially safe-also I do believe even if it isnt rc'd or mech protected if it is essentially obvious what ditance it...

    Permited cable route

My interpretation of it was if you cant fit within one of either safe zones or channelled 50mm or mechanical protection it should be rcd protected-so if rcd'd doesnt matter about zones. Not trying for one minute to say a time served excellent sparks like hornet is wrong but thats how it reads imho.

    low volt fan

My bathroom extractor fan is connected to transformer and is located at ceiling height about 2 meters from bath-but as its ceiling height and out of zone 2 would it not be 17th safe-as i assume when fitted 5 years ago would have been 16th. it is switched via the pullcord for the light and is...

    eeek, more safe zones..

In a simple answer-though others have said things. if circuit is rcd protected safe zoners and conduit-protection-need not apply. Thats the first scenario-but as it is surface wiring also not needed safe zones or rcd protection as if its in plain sight its deemed a moron would cut drill through it.

Logic Full Scope Part P Level A Award

Not sure what exact award it is but full scope means you can do anything with house wiring-not just limited scopeas in wiring in a heating system if your a heating engineer-or sockets if your a kitchen fitter.

    training/intensive courses.

Thats what i am going to do-as long as I can keep my head above water even doing a bit of handyman on top of domestic-i cant see any harm in it. if you need a job and are finding it hard-but are only likely to be a ble to be self employed working for yourself with those quals.

    neutral bar

Very confusing lol. is it a bit like because the power has been consumed and is only returning the current-whereas when fault or open current hasnt been used so still charged to full. if that sounds stupid you can slapm me lol

    Contactum

They were on a program about the recession with theo patheitis and were saying had full order books but banks cut them in half with lending-another thing the banks did to the country. Before that his father had run it and never borrowed a cent in 70 years.

    The sheds again

Thats scary-terminating with 2.5-when 3 core 4 will only give 10 amp-wot about 5 0r 6 for 2.5 in a radial of that length. Possibly running 38 amp off it if was using max load of what he said-

    Recent Job

nothing wrong with that-seems perfectly acceptable use of electrics-if you live in somewhere like egypt lol. Im suprised we didnt see a dozen extension blocks connected in daisy chain to give enough electrics for the whole house.

    replacement RCD tests??

Ok Andy-but if your with nic surely that would be the case as it says replacement of rcd. Have to be honest havnt got brb yet so wouldnt know what it says in that. :coat lol

    replacement RCD tests??

According to niceic inst guide a n item of switchgear or protection device which covers more than one circuit should not be covered by a mwc. Being that an rcd on a split board is almost certainly protecting more than one circuit it would appear from this on page 297 table 16.1 to be a matter...

    Emergency Lighting

Yes of course I agree-I thought the question was asking in a way that the emergency lighting would be wired in to mains in which case they wouldnt work anyway-but if they are battery powered then thats the way to go. LOL

    Emergency Lighting

From the questions ive come across in 17th edition-emergency lighting should be supplied by primary cells or parrallel supplies. Trouble is in my mind as it is emergency lighting-even with no rcd to cause nuisance tripping if there were a fault with a light shorting out and mcb did trip the...

    RCD board - which end?

I would just have a mcb at house to protect against faults in swa-say a 20 amp for 4 mm swa-then a cu in shed with rcd to cover all circuits. Bit fine with 4 mm as has been discussed before on here-so watch the number of sockets you use if your using a radial.

    Minor works cert

Just to add to the confusion-say whilst im starting my handyman company and am doing hopefully lots of minor works of the kind that are non notifiable-what do i do in the box where it asks you to put your reference number. I wont actually be registered until after I have completed the course and...
