@megger mark Just wondering when these bad boys might be getting sent out - very generous offer from you, and quite keen to get my hands on one :)

I'm not sure if I'm doing this right... I wonder if @megger mark at http://isswww.co.uk can help me?

Marc's in my class at college - real good lad, knows his stuff.

    The latest tool !

Drop down fronts are okay in AMD3 AFAIK so long as they have a catching mechanism to keep them closed. Just most boards choose the top hinge method because it's probably cheaper to manufacture.

    Why is this allowed?

Seems I've hit a nerve. It's not nice to be pigeon holed because of the actions of the few is it? How many Muslims helped with the floods in the north west? A good few more than there were Britain first supporters. And I'm not being PC. I'm exercising my right to freedom of speech - unless...

    Why is this allowed?

Perhaps we wouldn't get 'English law in a Muslim country' as you put it, but how many Brits work in places like Saudi where alcohol is banned, and it doesn't stop them making moonshine and the likes. I work with someone who used to work in Saudi and he'd have his own little brewery going in the...

Selling Property With No Earthing to Lighting

I'm intrigued by the NICEIC guidance of a circuit without an earth should be RCD protected - is that in case the circuit makes connection with an extraneous conductive part?

    17th Edition exam only?

I did mine at PASS in Stockton. When I contacted them about doing the exam only they said it wasn't possible as I needed to show 14 (I think it was 14) classroom hours. This was done on their online system where it can track your usage, but according to them it was a C&G requirement. I have...

    dodgy eicr

Why has she called on you to quote for the remedial works and not the 'electrician' that carried out the EICR?

    Software for qoutes/ estimates

Joist App is free, also has Apple/Android apps that syncs. Pretty cool for a free tool. Failing that, there's Powered Now too, think that's about a fiver a month.

    trades centre gateaway-full scope electrician

It beggars belief that people complain they can't afford to train properly, and then sign a contract for £5k or so without even understanding what it is they are signing up for. These training providers have a lot to answer for, but I think blame has to fall at the feet of those signing up. I...

So what is this free power bank charger from Screwys?

That looks alarmingly similar to the EE one they started handing out last year, and subsequently started recalling last year too.

When Domestic Installers Should Stay at Home

Going back to this 'Domestic Installer' / 'Electrician' title - which one of the titles would be appropriate for someone having completed the 2365 L3 but not completed the NVQ part of things? Surely they are more qualified than a DI course, but obviously not as qualified experienced as a time...

    For those who like tattoos!

I'm pretty covered with ink, and with steptoe in that I don't regret a single one. Even got one or two on my legs that I did myself and don't look great, but I love them as they each represent a time in my life, and I'm able to look at them and remember. I don't wear a wedding ring as I react to...

New Around Here With A Few Questions

Fair comments the both of you (Evans & sprocket) - it's not easy and it's not cheap. After re-reading this thread I'm starting to get the impression the OP is keen on doing the 5ww course and seems to be trying to justify it, so perhaps in retrospect I was jumping the gun. However, as for...

New Around Here With A Few Questions

It peeves me off when I see stuff like this. I'm on a course with lads that are +50, and my uncle didn't make the change until he was 52, and he's doing alright for himself. Sean, don't listen to people that are negative. Take on board the constructive stuff about choosing the right course, and...

    help with cable

I reckon a spark would fit a socket for a few pound notes. DIY is understandable for jobs like this when the OP has a little competence, but surely in this instance it would be best to employ a spark and get it done right? Chances are your TV will be worth £300-£500, so what's an extra £40 or...
