Wanting to Pick the brains of you Octopus Guru's

Btw The 6200 was before solar. I switched to octopus in November last year and as of yesterday I have used 2156kwh. Which is 8 days short of 6 month. Obv summer should be very low. From the 10kw battery's i prob drag 8kwh before they shut down. I estimated solar/batterys would substitute...

Wanting to Pick the brains of you Octopus Guru's

About 6200 p.a. my main alterations since solar is my koi pond. UV, heater, air pumps, water pump. All were running 24/7. At around 800 watts per hour. By buying a modern vari pump. Removing 1 air pump and only running the UV 12 hours during the day I've reduced it to about 450w.

Wanting to Pick the brains of you Octopus Guru's

I'm on Go, though I'm lazy and can't be bothered to shop around for the cheapest. I have a 4kwh system with 10kwh battery's. October - march I set the battery's to charge from the grid (1230am-4am).. those run my house and usually last to around 6pm (no solar generated). Upto midnight with...

    DIY solar battery storage

I thought you had a diverter for the hot water? Doesn't this have a CT clamp? If you put the 2nd CT clamp on then set the inverter from PV back to grid isn't this how Solis recomend the set up? Just get a cat cable and test the theory n see if it works. I know you don't want to spend...

To add more batteries to solar or not?

Imo first get a cheap overnight tariff and top the battery's up for 2 or 3 hours. See how this works with your current set-up If you feel an additional battery would benefit you, just get one before winter and see how that goes

    DIY solar battery storage

Have you fitted the CT clamp ? It will never work correctly without the clamp.

    DIY solar battery storage

Well m8. If you have set everything up as it should be according to the Solis manual and the only difference is the CT clamp/ settings I would sort that out and try to install it correctly according to manufacturer instructions Something I have learned about inverter is they are a sensitive...

    DIY solar battery storage

Has anything changed. Have you checked the connection between the battery and inverter. Is the com lead ok? Just run through what's happening again

Difference between Hybrid and Standard Inverter Query

As coll said. You pretty much nailed it. Beware not all battery's are compatible with all inverter. If you go down the "add battery's later" have in mind which battery's you are thinking of adding before buying your inverter. The way solar is going I would always future proof as much as...

Is it possible to trunk it and not clip it so it can be pulled in the future. If yes is there any specific trunking

Subbies going to the yard and carrying materials around in a car.

This basically. Charge per mile and clock start when you leave home. Calculate your travel time and petrol cost. Explain to the bloke the £200 was for labour only at X amount of hours. I would be happy to collect the parts but need paying for doing so.

    Outside electric feed

The electric mains comes into my semi detached house along the rear of the property from my neighbour house. Approx 2.4mt high from ground level.. I'm in the process of building a rear extension and was wondering what to do regards the cable. Should I just bury it in the plaster? Trunk it to...

    Solis app

I've had about 3 problems like this over the past 10 month. I blame gremlins though I'm not sure who we blamed before this

    Client interference

This happens regularly with most trades though it's usually discussed with the expert. Sparky's are a sensitive bunch and imo are best to leave alone. My trade is a plasterer so as part of the form we hate all Sparky's (love you all really 😄) In the 20 plus years Ive been property developing...
